General care and use instructions
Your Century truck cap or cover is one of the toughest caps made. In general, the cap should be cared for in the same way as your truck.
WARNING: Truck caps and covers were not designed or manufactured to serve as a passenger compartment. Carbon monoxide can accumulate. Do not drive with the rear door open.
For the first 30 days:
- Avoid commercial car washes.
- Wash with cool water and mild detergent.
- Wash your cap in the shade. Wipe dry with soft cloth.
- Avoid extreme heat and cold.
- Dry wiping is not recommended.
- Avoid gravel roads.
- Anti freeze, gasoline, or windshield solvent should be rinsed off with water immediately.
- Brush off ice or snow do not scrape it off.
For the first 60 days:
- Wax or polish should not be used.
General instructions:
- Wash its exterior with any of the commercially available auto soaps or mild detergents.
- When washing the interior, avoid getting moisture into the dome light.
- Lubricate the door hinges with light oil periodically.
- Inspect the fasteners holding the cap regularly.
- If necessary, lubricate the door lock with a graphite lock-lubricant. A lock-sock will prevent road salt and grit from entering the lock mechanism.
- In rare cases where a cap is damaged in use, it is usually impact damage from inside the cap. Firmly secure heavy loads or cargo with sharp points or edges.
- To protect screens from damage, do not leave side windows open more than one inch when traveling at highway speeds and never rest loads against either the windows or screens.
- Never drive with the cap door open, as it will cause damage to the door and the cap.
